‘Affection’ Trailer: Jessica Rothe Is Trapped In A Memory-Resetting Nightmare

BT Meza’s feature debut stars Jessica Rothe, Joseph Cross, and Julianna Layne in a horror story about a woman trapped inside a terrifying memory loop.

What is happening to Ellie? A puzzling condition leaves her fighting to hold on to her memories in “Affection.” The forthcoming horror film revolves around Ellie’s increasingly nightmarish revelations. She must confront everyone and everything, all before her memory resets again. “Affection” marks the feature film debut for its writer and director, BT Meza. He serves as a producer alongside Bay Dariz, Austin Walk, and J.P. Ouellette.

The film premiered during 2025’s Screamfest Horror Film Festival. A director’s statement revealed Meza’s own memories played a pivotal role in crafting the project. His father’s death led to painful realizations and the introduction of an abusive stepfather. “Although the past remains unalterable, I have always wanted to give my mother back her stolen identity, resurrect my father, and relive my childhood with a chance to mend the juncture where everything changed,” Meza wrote

The upcoming horror project stars Jessica Rothe, Joseph Cross, and Julianna Layne. Rothe is a familiar face to genre fans, having portrayed Tree Gelbman in “Happy Death Day” and its sequel “Happy Death Day 2U.” She currently stars in the recent SXSW selection “Imposters.” Cross has appeared in numerous films and series, including the 2012 docudrama “Lincoln.” He appears in the Nebula sci-fi anthology series “Sub/liminal.”

The film’s official synopsis:

Afflicted by a mysterious condition that resets her memory, Ellie becomes trapped in a cyclical nightmare with a man who claims to be her husband. She soon must uncover the horrifying truth of her existence—before she forgets it all again.
