Jessica Chastain stars as the complicated socialite Jennifer McCarthy. This project represents another pairing for Chastain and Franco. They recently worked together on the drama “Memory.” The Playlist’s Marshall Shaffer noted the actress’ consistent performances for the filmmaker. “Franco’s second collaboration with Jessica Chastain continues to draw out impressive nuance in muted shadings from an actress who won her Oscar for going big,” he wrote of “Dreams.”
A talented cast for the drama surrounds Chastain. Isaác Hernández, Rupert Friend, Marshall Bell, Eligio Meléndez, and Mercedes Hernández co-star in “Dreams.” Hernández portrays Fernando Rodríguez, the baller dancer at the center of it all. The role is well-suited for the actor, who is actually an acclaimed dancer. He is currently a part of the American Ballet Theatre’s company.
The film’s official synopsis:
“A powerful socialite (Academy Award® winner Jessica Chastain) and a promising ballet dancer (Isaac Hernández) begin a dangerous affair. When he secretly crosses the US-Mexico border, she takes desperate measures to protect their future together. A tense, erotic drama from acclaimed director Michel Franco (Memory, New Order).”
