Can humanity survive an ever-changing landscape? The Apple TV+ series “Foundation” returns with a bold new vision, taking place a century after the Season One finale. Since then, a religious phase has prompted a wave of changes — some more destructive than others. It’s an admittedly difficult task to adapt the complex Isaac Asimov novels, yet David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman appear to have cracked the code with their attempt. The Playlist’s Andrew Crump praised the pair’s ability to make the seemingly impossible work. “Foundation” has the space for Asimov’s seemingly endless plot points to breathe,” Crump wrote.
Series standouts Jared Harris and Lee Pace return to head up the outstanding cast; they are joined by Season One stars Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann. The upcoming season also brings new talent to the project, including Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels, and Dimitri Leonidas.

The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
