It’s been over a decade since the final season of ‘Spartacus’ on Starz. The series was perhaps best known for its high amounts of blood and sex, as well as having a very loyal viewership. Now, years later, the franchise is returning with “Spartacus: House of Ashur.”
With “Spartacus: House of Ashur” having its own San Diego Comic-Con panel, fans have been given the chance to watch a new teaser for the series. ‘Ashur’ takes place in a bit of an alternate universe where its title character didn’t die at the end of “Spartacus: Vengeance.” So, if Ashur didn’t die on Mount Vesuvius, what would have happened? That’s the question at the heart of the new series.
The series stars Nick E. Tarabay alongside Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Ivana Baquero, Jamaica Vaughan, Jordi Webber, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith, Cameron Rhodes, and Leigh Gill. Tarabay has continued to play Ashur since Season 1 of the original series. Fans will be happy to know that Steven S. DeKnight is returning as a showrunner for the new series. He’s been involved with every version of the show since its inception.
An exact release date for “Spartacus: House of Ashur” has yet to be announced, but it is expected to arrive this winter. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
House of Ashur will be a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit. The series poses the question: what if Ashur (Nick Tarabay), hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?
