What would you do to gain control? Bumpy Johnson is back in the MGM+ series “Godfather of Harlem.” Season three sees the crime boss at war with the Cuban Mafia; it’s a deadly battle that could cost Johnson everything he’s worked for and loves. He’ll also face off against rival Italians, Latin assassins, and the government. When the CIA gets involved, the stakes get even higher for a community battling against social injustice.
Forest Whitaker returns in the starring role and acts as one of the series’ executive producers. This season he’s joined by Vincent D’Onofrio, Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Giancarlo Esposito, and Whoopi Goldberg. Newcomers to the cast also introduce two famous figures to the series, with “Law and Order” actor Michael Raymond-James portraying Joe Colombo and “NCIS: New Orleans” actor Jason Alan Carvell taking on the role of Malcolm X.
The series’ official synopsis:
“Godfather of Harlem tells a story inspired by infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from 11 years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles.”
The highly anticipated third season of “Godfather of Harlem” premieres January 15 on MGM+. Viewers can catch up on the first two seasons through the EPIX app, providers with EPIX on-demand options, or Hulu. Watch the season three trailer below.
