Can justice prevail in an ever-changing world? The new limited series “Class of ‘09” from FX explores the ramifications of Artificial Intelligence, aka, A.I., through the lives of several FBI agents. Their stories intertwine as every choice comes with intense consequences. This original drama hails from creator Tom Rob Smith; the writer saw his debut novel, “Child 44,” adapted in 2015 by director Daniel Espinosa and producer Ridley Scott. Since then, he’s created several projects — notable among them the BBC Two series “MotherFatherSon.”
This intriguing project chooses two talented performers to lead its cast. Brian Tyree Henry comes off an Oscar-nominated performance in the film “Causeway.” He’s also set to lend his voice to “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and star in the monster movie “Godzilla and Kong.” Kate Mara’s drama experience dates back to critically-acclaimed fare like “House of Cards.” More recently, she appeared in the Sundance Film Festival selection “Call Jane.” Sepideh Moafi, Brian J. Smith, Jon Jon Briones, Brooke Smith, Jake McDorman, and Rosalind Eleazar also star in the series.
The series’ official synopsis via FX reads as follows:
“FX’s ‘Class of ’09’ is a suspense thriller limited series that follows a class of FBI agents set in three distinct points in time who grapple with immense changes as the U.S. criminal justice system is altered by artificial intelligence. Spanning multiple decades and told across interweaving timelines, the series examines the nature of justice, humanity and the choices we make that ultimately define our lives and legacy.”
