Watch An Exclusive Clip From Kelly Reichardt's A24 Drama 'Showing Up' Starring Michelle Williams, Hong Chau & Judd Hirsch

The new A24 film “Showing Up” comes from writer/director Kelly Reichardt (“First Cow“) and the filmmaker reunites with Oscar-winning actress Michelle Williams (“The Fabelmans“). The pair previously worked together on “Wendy & Lucy,” “Meek’s Cutoff,” and “Certain Woman” and all those collaborations are arguably both their best works. In “Showing Up,” Williams plays a sculptor that is trying to balance her life as an artist with the various daily workings of life, such as family and friends, while also seeking that all-important creative spark to create great artwork. “Showing Up” is already in theaters with a script penned by Jonathan Raymond and Reichardt. Today, we’ve been able to get an exclusive clip from the film to share (see below).

The rest of the exciting cast assembled includes recent Oscar-nominees Hong Chau (“The Whale,” “The Menu“) and Judd Hirsch (“The Fabelmans“), alongside others such as Maryann Plunkett (“Little Women“), John Magaro (“The Big Short“), James Le Gros (“Hunters,” “The Mosquito Coast“), and André Benjamin (“High Life“).

Here is the film’s official logline from A24:

“A sculptor preparing to open a new show must balance her creative life with the daily dramas of family and friends, in Kelly Reichardt’s vibrant and captivatingly funny portrait of art and craft.”

In our own review of the film from last year during the Cannes Film Festival, we called it a “beguiling film” and said, “Consciously, as Reichardt slowly, quietly, gently plies the clay of her tensions and emotionally sophisticated subjects, there’s at least tactile warmth to it all. Its unconscious mind, however, contains multitudes that may absorb like a great piece of art you may not fully comprehend but are mesmerized with nonetheless.”

You can watch that aforementioned exclusive clip from “Showing Up” below that features Williams and Hirsch having an exchange with each other.
