Does love continue after death? A woman tests the limits of romance and the afterlife in “Eternity.” The film envisions an afterlife full of possibilities, as new arrivals have a week to choose their final destination. Joan arrives to find the decision complicated by a love from the past and the spouse who was a major part of her life. One will spend forever with their soulmate, the other may face a new chapter alone.

David Freyne directs “Eternity” in addition to co-writing the screenplay with Pat Cunnane. Freyne’s previous directorial efforts include the 2020 comedy “Dating Amber.” Cunnane wrote for the political drama series “Designated Survivor.”
The film finds an accomplished lead in actress Elizabeth Olsen. She portrays Joan with a sense of understanding and empathy crucial to the character’s choices. Miles Teller and Callum Turner star as the two loves of Joan’s life. The trio find themselves in good company, with John Early, Olga Merediz, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph rounding out the cast. Joy Randolph notably won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress after delivering an unforgettable performance in “The Holdovers.”

In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend eternity, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) is faced with the impossible choice between the man she spent her life with (Miles Teller) and her first love (Callum Turner), who died young and has waited decades for her to arrive.
