'Snake Eyes' Trailer: Henry Golding Stars In The New 'G.I. Joe Origins' Film

Prepare for another dose of ‘80s inspired nostalgia as “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” hits theaters. This new entry in the G.I.Joe franchise ventures away from the full team instead of focusing on the popular character. Fans can rest easy knowing other favorites, including Baroness and Scarlett, make appearances; both underwent a recasting from previous film appearances. This time, Úrsula Corberó takes on the villainous Cobra recruit the Baroness, while Samara Weaving joins ‘Eyes” as the heroic intelligence officer, Scarlett.

Henry Golding assumes the task of bringing Snake Eyes to the screen. It’s not the first time the character has appeared in the film series, only the first with Golding as the lead. The actor may have come to audiences’ attention with films like “Last Christmas,” yet he was eager to play a more physically demanding role. He spoke about the experience in a recent interview with GMA. “Growing up in Asia, those were like my heroes, and copying those moves and tumbling through cities, you know, in Jackie’s kind of unique style, I think for me, it was kind of like, right, I really want to test myself, can I physically do it?”

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teaches Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him. Based on the iconic G.I. Joe character, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins also stars Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó as Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Tahehiro Hira as Kenta and Iko Uwais as Hard Master.”

Directed by Robert Schwentke, Hasbro’s legendary franchise returns with “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.” The film opens in theaters, Dolby Cinema and IMAX July 23rd. Watch the new trailer below.
