Prime Video is heading back into the Wasteland. “Fallout” is gearing up for Season 3, with Emily Mortimer, Manny Jacinto, and Thomasin McKenzie joining the cast as production begins in Los Angeles this month.
The new additions join the previously announced Aaron Paul, though no character details have been revealed yet. The series already stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Frances Turner, Annabel O’Hagan, and Dave Register.
Based on the long-running Bethesda video game series, “Fallout” is set 200 years after the apocalypse, when the sheltered residents of luxury fallout bunkers are forced back into the irradiated world their ancestors left behind. What they find is a violent, deeply weird civilization built from the ruins of the old world.
The series has also become one of Prime Video’s biggest genre swings. Through the first 13 weeks of Season 2, Seasons 1 and 2 have surpassed 100 million viewers worldwide, with both ranking among the streamer’s top four most-watched seasons of all time over the same window.
“Fallout” is produced by Kilter Films, with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive producing. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers. Amazon, MGM Studios, and Kilter Films produce in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.
Mortimer is best known for a screen career that spans “The Newsroom,” “Shutter Island,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Doll & Em,” and Noah Baumbach’s upcoming “Jay Kelly.” Jacinto broke out on “The Good Place” before moving into “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “The Acolyte,” and “Freakier Friday,” while McKenzie earned early attention for “Leave No Trace” and has since appeared in “Jojo Rabbit,” “Last Night In Soho,” and “Eileen.”
The first two seasons of “Fallout” are available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Season 3 begins production in Los Angeles this month.
