‘Cape Fear’ Trailer: Javier Bardem’s Max Cady Returns For Vengeance In Apple TV’s New Limited Series Co-Starring Amy Adams

Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson star in the 10-episode psychological horror thriller, with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg executive producing.

Max Cady is back on the doorstep, and “Cape Fear” is returning to the screen with a heavy set of names behind it. Apple TV has unveiled the trailer for its new 10-episode psychological horror thriller, starring Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson. The limited series will debut globally on Friday, June 5, 2026, with its first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31, 2026.

Created, showrun, and executive produced by Nick Antosca, the series draws from the same lineage that made “Cape Fear” one of cinema’s most durable revenge stories: John D. MacDonald’s novel “The Executioners,” the 1962 Universal Pictures feature starring Gregory Peck, and the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg.

The new version follows Anna and Tom Bowden, a pair of happily married attorneys played by Adams and Wilson, whose life is upended when Max Cady, the notorious killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison. Bardem plays Cady, who emerges with vengeance on his mind and a long memory of the people he believes destroyed his life.

Scorsese and Spielberg both return to the material here as executive producers, giving the Apple TV series a direct line to the 1991 film while opening the door to an expanded version of the story. The 10-episode format suggests a broader canvas for Antosca’s take on the Bowdens, Cady, and the moral rot that can spread when fear enters a family’s home.

The ensemble also includes Joe Anders, Lily Collias, and Malia Pyles, with CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector, and Anna Baryshnikov among the supporting cast.

Behind the camera, “Cape Fear” hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. Antosca executive produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey executive produce with Spielberg for Amblin. Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and also serve as executive producer.

The series arrives as Apple TV continues to build out a prestige genre slate around major stars, filmmaker names, and limited-series packaging. With Bardem stepping into one of the most famous villain roles in modern thriller history, Adams and Wilson anchoring the domestic nightmare, and Scorsese and Spielberg back in the fold, “Cape Fear” has no shortage of pedigree before Max Cady even knocks.

“Cape Fear” premieres June 5, 2026, on Apple TV. Watch the trailer below.
