Some horror myths don’t need modernizing so much as they need stripping back to the raw nerve—and Lee Cronin (“Evil Dead Rise”) looks to be doing exactly that with “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy,” which just unveiled its official trailer ahead of a spring theatrical run.

Cronin’s new spin starts with absence and grief, not pulp adventure: the young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, she’s suddenly returned to her shattered family, and what should read as a miracle curdles into something malignant—an unnerving homecoming that turns the reunion into a living nightmare.
The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Verónica Falcón. Behind the camera, Cronin writes and directs, producing alongside James Wan and Jason Blum (with John Keville also producing).
On the craft side, Cronin’s collaborators include cinematographer Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, costume designer Joanna Eatwell, composer Stephen McKeon, and casting directors Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo. This lineup suggests a tactile, built-world approach rather than a CG-first theme-park ride.
Release-wise, “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” opens only in theaters and IMAX in North America on April 17, 2026, with an international rollout beginning April 15. Watch the first trailer below.
