Johnny’s slow, methodical walk is taking a new route. The first teaser for “In a Violent Nature 2” has debuted as part of IGN Fan Fest, and it shifts the franchise’s rotting menace
—arthouse horror meets slasher movie—from the woods into classic summer-camp slasher territory.

Ry Barrett returns as Johnny, the undead killer whose rampage once played out in a perversely patient rhythm—less sprint-and-scream than march-and-murder. This time, the setup drops him into a camp setting where a young outcast camper is forced to spend the night alongside her counselor sister and the sister’s friends during their end-of-season party. It’s a premise that plugs directly into the genre’s most familiar wiring—“Friday the 13th” DNA, but filtered through the franchise’s colder, stranger sense of movement and time.
The sequel is being positioned as another extension of Chris Nash (“In a Violent Nature”) and producer Peter Kuplowsky’s experiment with slasher grammar, even as the teaser hints the perspective may widen beyond Johnny’s tunnel vision. If the first film’s signature was its commitment to the killer’s POV, the new footage suggests the follow-up may toggle viewpoints as the camp panic spreads.
The supporting cast includes Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven, Laurie Babin, Fionn Laird, Donald MacLean Jr., and Evan Marsh. The sequel was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, with Nash set to return as screenwriter and Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer producing. Production began in Canada in September 2025, and the film is now in post.
