Trafalgar Releasing is bringing one of Sia’s signature live performances back to the big screen. The company has announced global theatrical plans for “Sia: Nostalgic For The Present,” a limited theatrical event built around the 9x Grammy-nominated pop star’s 2016 main-stage Coachella performance and world tour.
The film arrives in select cinemas beginning July 23, timed to the 10th anniversary of the Coachella set, which combined Sia’s vocals with a more conceptual, choreographed, and screen-driven approach to the concert-film form. Tickets are now on sale at NostalgicForThePresent.com, and a trailer has also been unveiled.
Directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, “Sia: Nostalgic For The Present” features Maddie Ziegler, Kristen Wiig, Paul Dano, Ben Mendelsohn, Gaby Hoffmann, and Tig Notaro, with choreography by Ryan Heffington. The project has been remastered for its anniversary release. It is being positioned less as a traditional concert film and more as a cinematic performance piece centered on music, dance, and image.
