Summer romance comes with heavier stakes in “The Last Sunrise,” a new Prime Video drama starring Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez, and Eva Longoria. Based on the novel by Anna Todd, author of the “After” series, the film arrives globally on Prime Video on August 26.
Reficco stars as Ry, a college student living with a chronic illness who heads to Mallorca for the summer with her mother, played by Longoria. What begins as an escape turns into something more transformative when Ry meets Julián (Lindez) and falls unexpectedly in love, pushing her to embrace the present rather than organize her life around what might come next.

But the summer idyll has an expiration date. As Ry’s condition worsens, long-buried family secrets begin surfacing, threatening both her relationship with Julián and her understanding of the family she thought she knew.
Carlson Young (“The Blazing World,” “Upgraded”) directs from a screenplay by Anna Klassen, with Todd’s novel serving as the source material. Amazon MGM Studios presents the film, with Jennifer Gibgot, Lena Roklin, Andrew Panay, Brian Pitt, and Todd producing.
“The Last Sunrise” looks to blend young romance with something more bittersweet, using its Mallorca setting as the backdrop for a story about illness, family secrets, and the urgency of living fully while you can.
