After turning stunt-driven mayhem into studio spectacle with “Bullet Train” and “The Fall Guy,” David Leitch is heading into heist territory with “How To Rob A Bank,” a new R-rated crime movie built around bank robbers who make the very modern mistake of confusing attention with control.

Directed by Leitch and written by Mark Bianculli, the film follows a crew of social media-savvy bank robbers who broadcast their daring heists, only to discover that their growing viral fame has made them impossible to ignore. As their profile rises, a veteran FBI agent and a brilliant software engineer close in, forcing the crime ring to push past its own limits and risk everything for its beliefs—and for its most ambitious heist yet.
The cast is a strong mix of movie-star energy, prestige TV heat, and offbeat comedic edge. Nicholas Hoult leads the ensemble, joined by Zoë Kravitz, Anna Sawai, Rhenzy Feliz, Christian Slater as Walton, Pete Davidson, and John C. Reilly. The film is produced by Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Allan Mandelbaum, Kelly McCormick, and Leitch, with Ben Ormand and Bianculli serving as executive producers.
Leitch’s recent work has leaned heavily into bruising physical comedy, slick action construction, and star-forward genre vehicles, and “How To Rob A Bank” sounds like it fits squarely in that lane: a heist film about performance, ideology, surveillance, and the ugly feedback loop between crime and fame. The R rating is for language, some violence, and brief drug use.
“How To Rob A Bank” opens only in theaters on September 4. Watch the trailer below.
