‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ First Look: Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer & Nicole Kidman’s New David E. Kelly Series Arrives In April

Apple TV+ is offering a first look at “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” the eight-episode adaptation of Rufi Thorpe’s bestselling novel produced by A24. The series premieres globally on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, launching with three episodes before dropping weekly through May 20.

Elle Fanning stars and executive produces as Margo, a recent college dropout and aspiring writer who’s suddenly juggling a new baby, a shrinking bank account, and a fast-growing stack of bills. The premise promises a spirited, heart-on-its-sleeve comedy-drama about how ambition collides with necessity when life doesn’t wait for you to get your footing.

Margo’s family orbit is equally compelling. Michelle Pfeiffer plays her mother, an ex-Hooters waitress, while Nick Offerman is her father, an ex-pro wrestler—an offbeat parental pairing that suggests a mix of bruised tenderness and hard-earned pragmatism. Nicole Kidman also stars and executive produces, adding another marquee layer to the ensembles.

The series hails from multi-Emmy winner David E. Kelley, who serves as showrunner and writer and continues his productive relationship with Apple TV+ after “Presumed Innocent.” The additional cast includes Thaddea Graham, Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington.

Behind the camera, Dearbhla Walsh directs the pilot and executive produces, with Kate Herron and Alice Seabright also in the director’s chair. Kelley executive produces alongside Elle, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures, as well as Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, and Matthew Tinker for David E. Kelley Productions.

At first glance, the show appears tuned to the textures of modern survival—the compromises you make, the dignity you try to keep, and the sometimes hilarious improvisations required to stay afloat. With an April 15 launch now locked, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is shaping up as one of spring’s more enticing bets: a literary adaptation with star power, emotional bite, and the kind of weekly rollout that could turn quiet heartbreak into a communal watch.
