While Quentin Tarantino (“Pulp Fiction,” “Jackie Brown”) has spent years debating the nature of his final film, he has found a way to extend the life of his most recent hit without technically directing it himself. During the Super Bowl, Netflix debuted the first teaser for “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”, a project that sees Tarantino handing directing duties to David Fincher (“The Social Network,” “Mank”) while remaining on board as the screenwriter. The film serves as a sequel to 2019’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, picking up with the titular stuntman in 1977 as he navigates a new career as a Hollywood studio fixer.

The trailer showcases Brad Pitt (“Bullet Train”, “Fight Club”) returning to his Oscar-winning role, trading the 1969 sun of the previous film for the grittier, neon-soaked aesthetic of the late seventies. While Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly declined a cameo, the footage confirms a stacked ensemble led by Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”, “Tenet”), Carla Gugino (“The Fall of the House of Usher”), and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Watchmen”). The teaser also offers glimpses of Scott Caan (“Ocean’s Eleven”) and Karren Karagulian (“Anora”), the latter of whom was spotted in set photos during production.
The scale of the production appears massive, reflecting the $200 million budget Tarantino previously mentioned as the largest he has ever been associated with. The footage hints at Booth’s new profession as a man who helps Hollywood elites avoid scandals through various “methods,” a concept that aligns with the fixer role detailed in Tarantino’s novelization of the original story. Despite long-standing rumors, Timothy Olyphant has not been confirmed to appear in the footage, though the cast still includes Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”) and Peter Weller (“RoboCop”).
The collaboration marks a major reunion for Fincher and Pitt, who previously worked together on “Se7en”, “Fight Club”, and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. For Netflix, the project represents a significant prestige play, reuniting them with Fincher following his work on “The Killer” and “Mindhunter”. The film is produced by David Heyman (“Barbie”), Ceán Chaffin (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), Stacey Sher (“The Hateful Eight”), Pitt, and Tarantino.
“The Adventures of Cliff Booth” is scheduled to be released in select theaters and on Netflix later in 2026, and reportedly sometime in the summer. Given the January 15 wrap on principal photography and the high-profile Super Bowl launch, the streamer is clearly positioning this as its major tentpole for the year, blending Tarantino’s world-building with Fincher’s clinical, high-definition execution.
