Got a Tip?

‘Machete’ Is Next For Robert Rodriguez; Danny Trejo Not In ‘Expendables’

We wrote a week ago, “A note for those trying to figure what really comes out next from Robert Rodriguez’s ever-changing mind, the June issue of Production Weekly tips its hat and has ‘Machete’ on the docket for this summer and tellingly, no other Rodriguez projects” [ed. though today’s PW addition has the usual suspect projects, “Predators” et al., as “in development” or “in active development”].

Gordon & The Whale spoke to “Machete” star Danny Trejo and confirmed what many have already heard to be true/ can easily surmise: the film starts shooting in five weeks. Also Trejo said he’s not in “The Expendables,” despite everything that Sly Stallone said (or Latino Review who again, incorrectly reported this “scoop,” we need to stop listening to these guys). We’ve heard a few names big names being batted around/in talks about appearing in “Machete,” but we’d probably lose our nuts if we said anything so we’ll leave it for others to reveal, but remember “in talks” or meetings are just that, as least so far. What does that mean for “Nerverackers” that is supposed to come out April, 2010 under the aegis of The Weinstein Company? Well, you know how the TWC is doing and maybe this is a larger sign. “Machete” is being co-directed with Ethan Maniquis, Rodriguez’s long time editor who started out as an assistant editor on his projects.
