The new “Moana” stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as the determined wayfinder who answers the Ocean’s call and ventures beyond Motunui for the first time. Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui, the trickster demigod who joins her on a voyage to restore prosperity to her people.

The new trailer also confirms the return of Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa, the giant, glitz-obsessed crab he voiced in the 2016 animated film. The cast also includes Rena Owen as Gramma Tala, John Tui as Chief Tui, and Frankie Adams as Sina.

“Moana” is directed by Thomas Kail, the Emmy and Tony-winning filmmaker behind “Hamilton.” The film is produced by Johnson, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, with Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, Kail, and Auliʻi Cravalho serving as executive producers. Cravalho, of course, voiced Moana in the animated “Moana” and “Moana 2.”
