Ok, generally we’re not fans of character posters, mostly because they’re a shameless marketing tool doled out every other day to keep the buzz, discussion and dialogue on a film going (see “Inglourious Basterds” and its trail of daily breadcrumbs), but these character posters for Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are,” are a) delivered all at once, and b) excellent, and actually better than any of the real one-sheets or posters released so far (truthfully, we covet the Carol and Max ones, they’re wonderful).
We’ve generally also given up trying to deduce who voiced who in the film – although we did give it a valiant effort once — as the names apparently kept changing and Warner Bros. seemingly didn’t want to confirm all of the changes we tracked (rather meticulously or anally, take your pick), but the voices represented here, seem to be fairly obvious. Max is played by Max Records, naturally. Carol is voiced by James Gandolfini, KW is voiced by Lauren Ambrose and Catherine O’Hara provides the voice for Judith. The rest of the cast is voiced by Paul Dano (the goat named Alex) and Forest Whitaker (the one variable is Tom Noonan or Chris Cooper? No one seems to know or doesn’t wanna say). Catherine Keener plays the mom and Mark Ruffalo plays the boyfriend.
“Where The Wild Things Are” hits theaters October 16.
