“Beverly Hills Chihuahua” won the box-office derby again this weekend, besting Ridley Scott’s “Body Of Lies,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. Reuters: Among new limited releases, British director Guy Ritchie’s latest gangster movie, “RocknRolla,” earned a solid $141,000 from only seven theaters in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.
Pundits are saying that Scott’s movie appearing to be an Iraq-War film (even though it’s clearly not), and audiences apathy for that topic were part in parcel why the film couldn’t open at the top spot – that and the economy is being blamed as well for moviegoers staying away from “grim” looking subject matters.
