Wes Anderson Responds To 'Fox' Controversy, Admits To Tensions, But Says DP Relationships Are Fine

Wes Anderson has responded to the recent controversy over his working practices during the shooting of “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” while sitting down for an interview with Jeffrey Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere. Anderson doesn’t deny that there were tensions, but suggests that any differences have since been resolved, and that DoP Tristan Oliver was misquoted. He also says the interview with the L.A. Times took place in April of this year and their relationship has since evolved and become better.

“Tristan said a bunch of stuff that was a bit outrageous for thing to say about their boss while they’re working for them… he was obviously a bit mortified because he spoke completely out of turn, but our relationship got much better after that, so by the time the piece came out, it was a bit of a drag, because it puts a wrinkle that we’ve smoothed out.”

Don’t expect to see Oliver calling another director a “sociopath” anytime soon. Wes seems to take it all in stride which definitely makes him seem like the cool and collected one.
