The Clash At Demonhead: Meta-Fictional Band From "Scott Pilgrim Vs The World" Revealed

There’s been a paucity of real photo goodies of late, but Edgar Wright has revealed the fake “evil” band within “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” via his blog and fake-meta promotion hung up in Toronto’s SonicBoom record store (where scenes were shot? Toronto is definitely where the film is shooting).

The fictional band, Montreal art-rockers The Clash At Demonhead, are a group fronted by Brie Larson‘s character Envy Adams, who is one of Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera’s) ex-girlfriends (the one, the one who broke his heart). The fake promo includes fictional albums (one called Underwater Motor Scooter) and song titles like “You Suck” and “Stop Calling Me,” presumably mentioned in the original books (our memory is not that dorky good) by Bryan O’ Malley.

Based on a lot of videogame and indie-rock culture, ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is a story about a Canadian slacker (played by Cera) who must fight and defeat the seven evil ex-boyfriends of his dream girl (played by doll-cute Mary Elizabeth Winstead; when you think about it, the basic premise is very much like the “plot” line to Super Mario Brothers and many other basic video game premises where a protagonist has to fight through various stages and a big baddie at the end to get to the Princess, goal or what have you).

Who are the other members in Demonhead? Brandon Routh is supposed to be the bass player Todd Ingram, who has psychic vegan powers, but man that doesn’t look like him at all. The drummer, character Lynette Guycott? We don’t know/can’t tell and most comments section from Wright’s blog don’t reveal anything either (perhaps she’s an unknown actor). Who will write the music for The Clash At Demonhead because there are scenes of the band performing in the film? Our guess is Canadian synth-rockers Metric, because they too have a female frontwoman in Emily Haines who also plays keyboards and sings and they’ve already confirmed their participation on the film’s soundtrack (This Metric “rumor” is also referenced in the aforementioned comments section as well; it just seems like the obvious fit).

“Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2010.
