French writer/director Pascal Laugier (“Saint Ange,” the thematically stomach turning “Martyrs”) is set to make his English-language debut with a thriller called “The Tall Man” that will star Jessica Biel. Not exactly a household name, Laugier is perhaps best know as the Frenchman who almost helmed a remake/reboot of “Hellraiser” circa 2008/2009, but it was not meant to be.
Laugier is the former first assistant director of French filmmaker Christophe Gans who directed the internationally renowned action thriller, “Brotherhood of the Wolf.” “The Tall Man” has a modest $15 million dollar budget, shoots in September and is being compared to “Panic Room,” in that it features a female protagonist in distress. Maybe this will make up for “The A-Team”? Trick question, nothing likely can. [ScreenDaily]
