Kat Dennings Sings For 'Charlie Bartlett' Indie

Who? Ok, Kat Dennings is the cute up-and-coming indie hipster darling who appeared in “40 Year-Old Virgin” and will appear in the music-centric film, “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist,” which is due later this year (and will feature music by Bishop Allen and Brooklyn electro-indie duo Project Jenny/Project Jan among other indie bands that have yet to be announced).

“Charlie Bartlett,” is the upcoming MGM indie about an irreverent and privileged teen (Anton Yelch) who gets kicked out of private school and has to slum it in public school (shades of “Rushmore”).

As Bartlett takes the temperature of the school’s social hierarchy, he figures out that his road to popularity (and not getting bullied) is to become the school’s resident psychiatrist. Utilizing the bathroom as his “couch,” Bartlett hears out student’s issues and then relays the stories to his over-zealous shrink so he can pass off meds and becomes a walking anti-angst pharmacy.

The coming-of-age story also stars Robert Downey Jr. as his concerned teacher and Dennings as his love interest. It looks cute, though the film was due in fall of last year and then got bumped to February 22. Kat Dennings sings a song in the film and we’ve got it below. The soundtrack came out in July 2007, around the time of the film’s original release date before it got pushed (and pushed again). It features a score by Christopher Beck and songs by Hard-Fi, Spiral Beach, Curtis Mayfield and the Subways.
