‘In The Fire’ Trailer: Amber Heard Tries To Cure A Possessed Boy In New Supernatural Thriller

The “woke” age of diversity, empathy, and inclusion seems to be coming to an end in Hollywood? You had #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter, and a lot of social justice protests online between 2017 and through the pandemic until about 2021— and it spawned great change, especially in Hollywood. But cut to six years after #MeToo started, and we’re in a space where Johnny Depp—who was the subject of a deeply damaging Rolling Stone article about his questionable behavior that he himself agreed to smooth over his reputation, but basically did the opposite— is the hero and Amber Heard is somehow a villain and pariah after losing the defamation trial against her ex-husband for his various abuses. Heard’s gotten a raw deal in these last few months and apparently has had a reduced role in the “Aquaman” sequel because of it. Regardless, hopefully, things change for her soon as she soldiers on, focusing on acting in the upcoming movie “In The Fire.”

Due in theaters and On Demand October 13 via Saban Films, “In The Fire” is a 19th-century-set supernatural thriller that stars Heard and Spain’s Eduardo Noriega (“Vantage Point”).

Directed by Conor Allyn (“No Man’s Land”), the film was written by Allyn, Pascal Borno, and Silvio Muraglia and takes place on a farm in Colombia in the 1890s. The thriller centers on a couple with a young autistic son who have to face both the villagers and the local priest and worry demonic forces possess the boy and is the reason for all the village’s woes.

After the death of his wife, Don Marquez (Noriega) brings in Grace Victoria Burnham, an American psychiatrist (Heard), to find out what is ailing the boy, played by Lorenzo McGovern Zaini (“American Night”).

Here’s the official synopsis:

A doctor from New York travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities. She begins treating the child, but in doing so, ignites a war of science versus religion with the local priest, who believes the boy is possessed by the Devil and is the reason for all the village’s woes.

“In The Fire” lands in theaters and On Demand on October 13. Watch the first trailer below.
