Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ Spin-Off Titled ‘Dream Productions’ & ‘Win Or Lose’ Dated For December With New Trailer [D23]

Pixar Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Peter Docter took the stage tonight at D23 in Anaheim, California, and while we already recapped new details unveiled about “Toy Story 5” and a new 2026 film called “Hoppers,” there are more Pixar-related news.

Disney’s beloved animation house also revealed some about their “Inside Out” spin-off series.  Titled “Dream Productions,” the series is set in “Inside Out” character Riley’s dream world. “Dream Productions” won’t hit Disney+ until some time in 2025.

“Dream Productions,” from the world of “Inside Out” centers on the studio inside Riley’s mind where dreams really do come true thanks to acclaimed dream director Paula Persimmon (voice of Paula Pell). The four-part series was written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon. “Dream Productions” also features the voices of Richard Ayoade, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Alli Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, and Phyllis Smith.

“In the first film, remember we go to Dream Production to see how Riley’s dreams are made? It semi-explains why they’re so weird,” Docter told EW earlier this year. “We’ve continued the exploration of the power of dreams and how they affect us in our waking life, as well. So it’s pretty cool.”

Pixar also provided additional details about its first-ever original series, “Win or Lose. The series follows the intertwined stories of eight characters as they prepare for their big championship softball game. Will Forte voices the lead character Coach Dan, and additional cast members include Milan Ray, and Rosa Salazar.

Directed, written, and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, Pixar revealed a fall 2025 debut time frame for its premiere on Disney+.

Here’s the updated “Win Or Lose” synopsis:

“Win or Lose,” Pixar Animation Studios’ first-ever original series, follows the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game. The series reveals what it actually feels like to be in the shoes of each character—the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire—with incredibly funny, very emotional and uniquely animated perspectives.

Lastly, the animation studio gave an update on “Elio,” which is dated June 13, 2025. Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina (a co-director and co-writer of “Coco“) and starring the voice work of Yonas Kibreab, America Ferrera, Jameela Jamil, and Brad Garrett. Zoe Saldaña joins the cast, too, and lends her voice to Elio’s Aunt Olga.

Here’s the synopsis:

For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new movie “Elio,” the universe calls back! The original feature film introduces Elio, an underdog with an active imagination who finds himself inadvertently beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s ambassador to the rest of the universe and completely unprepared for that kind of pressure, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, survive a series of formidable trials, and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be.

To recap, Pixar’s upcoming schedule looks like this:

“Dream Productions” — TBD 2025
“Hoppers”— March 6, 2026
