In a recent Detroit News interview, Michael Moore, whose new economic crisis documentary, “Capitalism: A Love Story,” is due in theaters October 2nd, might be returning to narrative filmmaking.
“I have been working on two screenplays over the last couple of years,” he told Detroit News.com. “One’s a comedy, one’s a mystery, and I really want to do this.”
That’s fine and all and most reporting this news seem to be happy with it, but uhh, do we have to remind everyone about 1995’s comedy narrative, “Canadian Bacon.” While we appreciated the sentiments behind the satire – a fictional U.S. president (Alan Alda) engineers a fake war with Canada in order to boost his popularity — seeing one of the last appearances by the late John Candy, it’s use of actor Rip Torn and its SCTV-like tendencies, the picture was not very good.
Moore is currently promoting his 5th annual Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan and he’s made more recent news by announcing a Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival.
