‘Public Enemies’ Soundtrack Hits June 30

The bluesy, depression-era inflected soundtrack for Michael Mann’s “Public Enemies,” which features tracks by Otis Taylor, Willie Johnson, Billie Holiday and a score by Eliot Goldenthal (“Heat,” “Drugstore Cowboy” and an Academy Award win for the excellent “Frida” score) is due June 30 via Decca Records.

The soundtrack also features tracks by Diana Krall (a new version of the classic jazz standard, “Bye Bye Blackbird“), The Bruce Fowler Big Band and presumably what is a spirituals hymnal by Indian Bottom Association, Old Regular Baptists.

“Public Enemies” stars Johnny Depp as gangster John Dillinger, Marion Cotillard plays his love interest and Christian Bale plays the FBI agent hot on his trail. The film opens up in theaters on July 1.
