Btw, you can preview Jarvis Cocker’s bouncy, banjo-driven, “Fantastic Mr. Fox AKA Petey’s Song” here (Cocker voices the character Petey in the Wes Anderson film and almost did the narration for the film too, but U.S. test audiences were too confused so it was scrapped).
The track is off the ‘Fantastic Fox’ soundtrack and the only song of his that made the CD. The U.K. Guardian says the song features banjo and “boingy spring noises,” plus lyrics like, “Zippy zee, zappy zah, yappy yo doodle dum,” which is correct. And yes, it’s a kids movie don’t judge too hard.
In related news, it was recently announced that Cocker would be awarded an honorary doctorate at Sheffield Hallam University this November.
