All almost-33 minutes of the new instrumental score the Flaming Lips wrote for their wacky, psychedelic Xmas movie, “Christmas On Mars,” is streaming online as we speak.
We’re listening to it right now and it’s pretty damn evocative and wonderfully strange. We’d almost rather listen to their freaky score material than their pop albums of late which haven’t been that great since Yoshimi (which even itself was a so-so record with a few gems).
There’s some nice ghostly, almost Beach Boys/Disney “Fantasia” in space moments here and of course some weirder, almost Lynchian-elements. You can listen here. Definitely worth it. We still have to catch “Christmas on Mars,” but our contributor Alex didn’t love it that much when he saw it a few weeks ago.
