The 100 Most Anticipated Films Of 2025

Not Until 2026
First off keep in mind that much-anticipated films like Jordan Peele’s next movie and “Barbarian” filmmakers “Weapons” don’t arrive until 2026. S. Craig Zahler’s “The Bookie & The Bruiser” with Adrien Brody and Vince Vaughn sounds great, too, but it’s not shooting til early 2025, and the year is so crowded already, it’s an easy one to save for the following year. Likewise, Claire Denis’ “The Cry of the Guards” with Matt Dillon, Riley Keough, and Isaach de Bankolé isn’t shooting until next year and 2025 is packed to the gills. Sadly, the animated “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Movie” doesn’t appear like it’s arriving anytime soon. Kristofer Borgli’s “The Drama” with Robert Pattinson and Zendaya sounds awesome and is shooting now, but A24’s year is packed so we don’t see them rushing this one out. Additionally, Paul Schrader’s obsession noir “Non Compos Mentis” was pushed to a spring shoot and hasn’t even been cast yet, so that’s definitely next year, while Panos Cosmatos’ “Flesh of the Gods” with Oscar Issac and Kristen Stewart hasn’t gone into production yet either, so it sounds like 2026.

Some Films We’ve Already Seen coming out in 2025 that we know are good include Steven Soderbergh’s “Presence,David Cronenberg‘s “The Shrouds,Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s “Freaky Tales” and many more that you’ll hear about later in the year

Honorable Mention
Look, you just can’t fit in everything, ok? That said, titles we are still greatly looking forward to include David Mackenzie’s WWII-set crime thriller “Fuze” with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Sam Worthington and more, which would be awesome if it’s ready in time; James L. Brooks’ “Ella McCay” with Jamie Lee Curtis, Rebecca Hall, Jack Lowden, Emma Mackey and many more; Andrew Patterson‘s “The Rivals of Amziah King” with Matthew McConaughey, Kurt Russell, Cole Sprouse; There’s also dozen of festival titles that will dive into deeper later in the year during those curtain raisers, but some titles we are excited about include Michael Franco’s “Dream” with Jessica Chastain, Julian Schnabel‘s “In The Hand Of Dante” with Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and more, Sebastien Lelio’s Chilean feminist protest film, “The Wave”; Bi Gan’s surrealist sci-fi detective story “Resurrection”; László Nemes’Orphan”; Christian Petzold’s “Miroirs No 3”; and new films by Sylvain Chomet, Jia Zhangke, Carlos Reygadas, Kiril Serebrenikkov, and Audrey Diwan’s “Emmanuelle” erotic drama starring Noémie Merlant, Naomi Watts, Will Sharpe, and actually already came out in France (with mild reviews to boot, hence exclusion from the main list).

What else is coming that sounds intriguing? Pixar filmmaker Andrew Stanton’s live-action return with “In The Blink Of An Eye” starring Kate McKinnon, Rashida Jones, and Daveed Diggs and will debut on Hulu later this year; Bart Layton’s “Crime 101” with Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan should be great, but could he held until next year;  Kenneth Branagh’s “The Last Disturbance Of Madeline Hynde” with Jodie Comer, Patricia Arquette and Michael Sheen; Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega in A24’s “Death of A Unicorn”; Christopher Abbott, Mackenzie Davis in “Swimming Home”; Shane Black‘s “Play Dirty” starring Mark Wahlberg for Amazon MGM Studios; the Untitled Trey Parker slave reenactment relationship comedy; and the thriller “Novocaine” starring Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder.

Additionally, you have Barry Levinson‘s “Alto Knights” with Robert De Niro; New Line’s “Companion” with Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid; Last Breath” with Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu; the A24 horror “Opus” starring Ayo Edebiri, Amber Midthunder and John Malkovich;Patti Cakes” director Geremy Jasper‘s “O’Dessa” with Sadie Sink; the Safdie Brothers-produced “If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You” with Rose Byrne; the thriller, “Dreamquil” with John C Reilly and Elizabeth Banks, from artist Alex Prager; the Glen Powell and Anthony Mackie-starring “Monsanto” for Netflix;  the “Talk To Me” directors latest, “Bring Her Back” with Sally Hawkins and the “Peaky Blinders” movie with Cillian Murphy unless it’s held until 2026.

Obviously, there are a ton of mainstream films not really on this list, because let’s face it, you can find that anywhere, but I suppose some titles worth noting are the “How To Train Your Dragon” live-action remake; Marc Webb’s “Snow White” with Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot Happy Gilmore 2” featuring Adam Sandler; “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie”; “Beneath the Storm” starring Phoebe Dynevor; the Untitled “Insidious” sequel, and “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga back for one more time;  the Marlon Wayans sports horror “Him”; “Mortal Kombat 2”; “Wicked Part Two”; the animated “Zootopia 2” and “The Bad Guys 2”; Viola Davis in the action film “G20”; the Amazon actioner “Heads Of State” with Idris Elba and John Cena and like, that’s way more than enough, right? Going to take a nap until January.
