Woody Allen Takes Anthony Hopkins & Josh Brolin With Him Back To London

Does Woody Allen no longer love his home of New York city? After shooting four pictures away from home — his London trilogy and Spain’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” — the funnyman auteur returned to Gotham for “Whatever Works” starring Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood, but not even months after that film is semi-complete, Allen has already booked a one way trip back to the U.K.

The prodigious director/writer has added Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins to the as-of-yet unnamed ensemble cast of his upcoming untitled comedy set to shoot in London this summer. Predictably, the title and plot are a tightly guarded secret.

The film will be backed by Spain-based Mediapro, the same company that financed, ‘Barcelona’ (the Europeans love Allen and this is basically why he always shoots there now: he gets funds easily). So no plot details whatsoever, but back to London where Allen got his mojo back with, “Match Point,” however, we should all remember that the rest of the two U.K. set films, “Scoop” and “Cassandra’s Dreams,” were not so good. Now we just have to sit and wait to find out who besides Scarlett Johansson are the beautiful women in the film he’s inevitably going to cast. Meanwhile, “Whatever Works” comes out this summer via Sony Pictures Classics.
