A long seven years after the second installment, the ‘Quiet Place’ franchise is finally going loud again. Late yesterday, John Krasinski announced that the belated “A Quiet Place” post-apocalyptic horror/family series will return in 2027. His Paramount Pictures franchise’s third chapter, “A Quiet Place Part III,” which he will write, direct and produce, has been slated for release on July 9, 2027.

So far, three films have been released in the ‘Quiet Place’ franchise, including last year’s prequel, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” directed by Michael Sarnoski (the indie breakout “Pig”).
The franchise, which melds horror, thriller and family drama, has been a consistent earner at the box office and the three films have grossed over $900 million worldwide so far.
“A Quiet Place” became a smash hit upon its release in spring 2018, introducing audiences to the Abbott family played by Krasinski, his real-life wife Emily Blunt, plus Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds. Krasinski’s Lee Abbott patriarch sacrificed himself at the end of the inaugural film and “A Quiet Place Part II” (2021) introduced new characters played by Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
The original screenplay was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“65,” “Heretic”), but Krasinski rewrote it, made it his own and emphasized a stronger family element.
Blunt and Krasinski revealed in 2021 that they had plans for a third film in an intended trilogy, but a third film, originally due for a summer 2025 release was pulled in early 2024.
The third film will presumably be set years later given that the children in the film are now in their late teens and early 20s. Another safe assumption is that Cillian Murphy will return and the Abbott family—separated by the end of the film—may still be apart and looking for each other.
“A Quiet Place Part III” is set for a July 9, 2027 release date.
