Bale Watch: Bale Out On Bail! The Dark Knight Goes Free

Maybe it’s Heath Ledger’s death getting to him? Maybe he doesn’t want part of any threequel? Christian Bale was arrested earlier this morning following accusations of assault from his family.

According to U.K. updates, “The Dark Knight” actor has been released on bail after being questioned by the British Police.

(Spoiler!) This is mirroring the end of “Dark Knight” and Batman’s turn as a fugitive from the law all too closely. No one is commenting so far, Reuters is noting that he’s a “martial arts enthusiast.” [Reuters]

Could this derail “The Dark Knight” at the box-office this weekend and turn the tide a little bit? Will people reconsider seeing it a second time? Will those that haven’t yet seen it say, “fuck it, I’m going to download it instead?” Also, are the ‘Dark Knight’s aggressive monitoring tactics Cheney/Republican-esque? The Washington Independent says the, “Batman’s ‘Dark Knight’ Reflects Cheney Policy.”

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Bale pushed a family member after a dispute revolving around a longstanding family argument. The event is being described by police sources as an allegation of a “minor” common assault. Attorney’s representing the actor have released a statement on his behalf.

“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.”
