Danny Boyle hasn’t come this far and worked this hard on cultivating an excellent career to throw in all away on the 23rd installment of James Bond now has he?
We surely don’t think so, but the U.K. Sun (yeah, yeah, we know…) is reporting that Bond chief Barbara Broccoli, who now heads the huge 007 franchise at EON Productions, is leading the charge for his directorial talents.
Fresh off his Oscar win for “Slumdog Millionaire,” the Hollywood offers are apparently pouring in. “Danny is the man of the moment and he is being bombarded with offers from studios,” says a source that notes that Boyle doesn’t care for big-budget films, but that the prospect of a gritter Bond with Daniel Craig could be enticing.
Don’t do it Danny. Use your newfound clout to push your own project through and just don’t rifle through the Hollywood to-do pile that’s probably been circulated to 5,000 other once-hot directors before you. You’re better than this and you’re better than Bond (no respect to Martin Campbell, but we’re pretty sure this franchise is dead and off-our-radar once more).
