'The Devil All The Time' Trailer: Robert Pattinson Is A Sinister Preacher Out To Get Tom Holland

He might not be a household name yet, at least in terms of where mainstream filmmaking and fandom is concerned, but writer/director Antonio Campos has been slowly building an impressive body of auteur-driven work that has dazzled the arthouse for years (2012’s deeply underrated “Simon Killer” and 2017’s “Christine” starring Rebecca Hall). Hollywood has taken notice, his next film “The Devil All the Time” is a scorcher coming to Netflix in September, and one of our most anticipated films of the year.

In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Robert Pattinson), twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family. Spanning the time between World War II and the Vietnam war, director Antonio Campos’ THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME renders a seductive and horrific landscape that pits the just against the corrupted. Co-starring Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, Haley Bennett, and Pokey Lafarge, this suspenseful, finely-woven tale is adapted from Donald Ray Pollock’s award-winning novel.

“The Devil All The Time” was written by Campos and his brother Paulo Campos. Randall Poster, known as Wes Anderson’s go-to music supervisor and Jake Gyllenhaal, are two of the producers along with Riva Marker and Max Born.

Campos also co-founded Borderline Films which has produced films such as “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” “Christine” and “James White,” so you probably know that collective of filmmakers even though you may not have realized it. Fun fact, Campos also directed an episode of season one of Marvel’s “The Punisher” back in 2017.

Regardless, “The Devil All The Time” is poised to launch him into the mainstream and if it weren’t for Netflix’s decision to not premiere films at film festivals in 2020—given film fests have largely been canceled or gutted due to COVID-19, you know this one would have been a splashy red carpet premiere at Venice, TIFF, etc.  Watch the first trailer below.
