Do You Want A THIRD 'Shutter Island' Trailer That Shies Away From Film's M. Night Shyamalan-Like Twist Ending?

Seriously. How many “Shutter Island” trailers can they release? We were duped by the second one that was actually exactly the same as the first one, but Paramount somehow tricked all bloggers to write about it. And here they go again, and yes, there’s some new stuff in this trailer — near the end — and more footage of Michelle Williams, who plays Leonardo DiCaprio’s deceased wife in the picture, but this trailer does the Marty Scorsese film, no favors and it just keeps looking more and more like a fairly generic B-movie thriller. Sure’s it’s Scorsese so it should be above average, but then again, “Gangs of New York” wasn’t. Check it out for yourself, but we’re growing cooler on this project by the day. We’ll try and remind ourselves that Laeta Kalogridis’ script is super taught and a page-turner until she reaches that part in the Dennis Lehane novel where the big M. Night Shyamalan-like twist happens and the story shits the bed. It’s funny how people still cling to the hope that this is going to be one of the best of the year, but there’s a reason it’s due date is February 19, 2010.
