The global animated phenomenon, “KPop Demon Hunters,” is returning to theaters—this time as a full-throttle, one-weekend-only sing-along event. Netflix has announced “KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event,” set for August 23–24 in select theaters across the U.S. and Canada, letting fans seal the “Honmoon” by belting out chart-topping K-pop bangers shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of equally fervent strangers.

The return comes just weeks after the film’s June 20 debut, where it skyrocketed to become Netflix’s most popular animated movie ever, the first original animated feature to break into the streamer’s Most Popular Movies List (English). The soundtrack has also dominated the summer, amassing more than 3 billion global streams, with breakout single “Golden” topping the Billboard Hot 100.
For the uninitiated (read: those who somehow avoided the summer’s biggest streaming juggernaut), “KPop Demon Hunters” follows Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—K-pop megastars by day, demon-slayers by night—as they fend off supernatural forces while dodging the razor smiles of their ultimate nemesis: an impossibly alluring rival boy band who are, of course, demons in disguise. It’s a maximalist blend of supernatural action, glitter-fueled pop spectacle, and sincere girl-power camaraderie, the kind of tonal swing that shouldn’t work but absolutely does.
The film’s soundtrack was practically engineered for a sing-along, stacked with hooks from heavyweight songwriters like TEDDY, Jenna Andrews, and EJAE, and featuring a show-stopping anthem performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung of TWICE. The event promises to turn every theater into an arena show, complete with on-screen lyric cues so no one fumbles the bridge.
Helmed by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and produced by Michelle L.M. Wong with animation from Sony Pictures Animation, the voice cast is as stacked as its soundtrack: Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Byung Hun Lee.
And if you want to go beyond singing from your seat, Alamo Drafthouse is going all-in for the occasion. Twenty-three locations nationwide will host special sing-along screenings. At the same time, select cities—including Austin, San Antonio, Los Angeles, New York, the Bay Area, and more—will throw “KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along Movie Parties.” These go full fan-service with a live host, immersive photo ops, and officially branded props and giveaways—everything from Sodapop Lip Balm and fandom buttons to Rumi, Mira, or Zoey Ramyeon Cups, glowsticks, and Huntrix VIP badges. It’s part karaoke session, part cosplay runway, and pure K-pop chaos.
Tickets go on sale August 13 at 6 a.m. PT via SingKPopDemonHunters.com. Given the speed at which anything “KPop Demon Hunters”-related tends to sell out, hesitation is ill-advised.
And if that wasn’t enough hype, Netflix isn’t stopping there. In the glow of this runaway success, the studio is reportedly plotting two animated sequels (a complete trilogy), a stage musical, a TV series, and short films, with a previously considered live‑action remake now off the table. Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans have signaled interest in returning to untangle loose ends—like Rumi’s heritage, Jinu’s fate, and the backstories of Mira and Zoey—and there’s talk of having a sequel as early as 2028.
