‘Divinity ‘Trailer: Eddie Alcazar’s Batsh*t Crazy Cult Sci-Fi Film Gets A Wild, R-Rated Trailer

As you’ve probably heard and read, hopefully from us, the new indie sci-f film “Divinity” is one of the craziest films of the year, a cult classic in the making, and a gonzo, experimental, batsh*t crazy movie that’s innovative af. This is the type of filmmaker and filmmaking so strong it gets the attention of a filmmaker who comes on as an executive producer to champion it, and that’s exactly what Steven Soderbergh has done with “Divinity” (remember, Soderbergh essentially did the same thing with Christopher Nolan did, sans credit, for “Memento” and look how that turned out).

“Divinity” comes from the mind of writer-director-producer Eddie Alcazar. Alcazar is also a game developer who has won many awards in that field. He coined the term “Meta-Scope” to describe the film’s visionary technique employed, which blends live-action and stop-motion, and it’s so unusual and contrastive to anything you’ve seen; it’s arresting and even unnerving to the eyeballs.

“Picture, if you can, the work of outre filmmaker Guy Maddin, an LSD overdose, and the creepy, illusory, uncanny marvel of “Jason and The Argonauts”-esque stop motion techniques utilized to glue your eyes open while drops of who knows what are plopped into your sockets to make this drug-induced journey peak that much more,” we wrote in our review.

In short, “Divinity” has to be seen to be truly experienced. Post-apocalyptic and gnarly, “Divinity” centers on two mysterious brothers who abduct a mogul during his quest for immortality. Meanwhile, a seductive woman helps them launch a journey of self-discovery. The film’s eclectic cast features Stephen Dorff, Moises Arias, Jason Genao, Karrueche Tran, Mike O’Hearn, Emily Willis, with Scott Bakula and Bella Thorne.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Society on this barren planet has been entirely perverted by the supremacy of the drug, whose true origins are shrouded in mystery.
