Burnt out by music games? Already completed this week’s “Beatles Rock Band?” Well, do us all a favor and shut the fuck up, because there’s a game coming out that should reaffirm your belief in all things awesome and videogame-y.
Rolling Stone revealed today that you will actually be able to play as Daft Punk’s robotic selves, crafting one-of-a-kind mixes and mash-ups. Even more excitingly, players will perform in a recreation of their mind-blowing 2007 concert tour. According to Rolling Stone, you will be “playing in a special venue that mirrors the duo’s recent stage show and lighting.”
In a word: amazing.
There will be 11 exclusive mixes and mash-ups in “DJ Hero,” including one that combines the duo’s “Technologic” and Gary Numan’s “Cars.” Again, we cannot wait. The game is a little pricey, with the turntable controllers it’s over a hundred bucks, but we think it’ll still probably worth it to be able to robot rock with the best of them. (Also, since the Daft Punk-scored “Tron Legacy” was announced for Christmas of next year, we’ll need something to hold us over.)
Also, this should be the time when anyone that doesn’t have a PS3 should buy a PS3 (recently bumped down to a more manageable price of $299). Not only has it been slimmed down to a more apartment-friendly model, but it’s also still the best Blu-ray player on the market right now. It’s even endorsed by our friends at the Criterion Collection as the premiere model (and they should know; their high-def releases have been nothing short of life-altering).
