No Surprises: Golden Globes Cancelled

In what should be no surprise to anyone with an ounce of foresight, the Golden Globes have been cancelled because of the Writers Guild strike. As we mentioned over the weekend the chances of a show was looking pretty bleak and as of early this afternoon, blogger Nikki Finke reported the the broadcast had been terminated and a few hours later she was proved to be on the money when they made the announcement in the early p.m. EST.

Instead of the annual awards ceremony, a live press conference will be held on NBC News where they will read out the winners in a one-hour event. That’ll be exciting, huh?

Now one has to ask, will the Globe winners have less of an affect on the Oscars since there won’t be the big brouhaha?
