Ryan Reynolds Still Wants A 'Deadpool'/'Wolverine' Film, 1st 'Deadpool 2' Clip & More

Just yesterday, Ryan Reynolds admitted there may not be a “Deadpool 3” movie and suggested the character might just phase into “X-Force” movies instead.

“I do see him as being a part of ‘X-Force,’ obviously,” he said explaining the difficulty of solo sequels, raising stakes and all that good stuff and added. “I would love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like a mano a mano or a great female character from the ‘X-Men’ universe.”

Maybe that mooted “Wolverine”/”Deadpool” movie Reynolds has been championing for some time could be the team-up he’s dreaming up. But wait, *spoiler,* the character died at the end of James Mangold‘s”Logan,” did he not? No problemo, the actor said.

“He’s alive and well in my timeline,” he told EW this week. “There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that.”

Of course, it would all depend on Hugh Jackman who has sworn he is done with the character (though loosely suggested that a Wolvie/Deadpool movie would be fun, at least in concept).

“I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend,” he continued. “He’s just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.”

It’s fun to dream about, but read between the lines: that movie’s just never going to happen.

Meanwhile, “Deadpool 2,” which is already reportedly cutting jokes from the trailer that won’t be in the final film, had to cut out a dig at Disney.

“This is a sore spot for me because there’s a joke in the movie that is not in the movie now because — I’m probably not even allowed to say this — Fox made me take it out,” he said. “It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision.”

Something about the Fox/Disney acquisition possibly? Reynolds doesn’t elaborate, but clearly, the last sentence suggests it was pretty mean-spirited or really cutting.

What’s happening with that deal? Will Disney buy up 20th Century Fox and then expand their monopoly even further and would Disney strip away the R-Rating from Fox superhero movies like the “Deadpool” franchise? Reynolds says he doesn’t know.

“I read that [Disney chairman and CEO] Bob Iger felt that there’s plenty of room in that universe to have a rated-R character like Deadpool. This is completely conjecture on my part, but I wouldn’t imagine that Disney bought Fox to dismantle it or something like that. I think that Disney bought Fox so it could have that in its arsenal.”

Simon Kinberg, the director of the upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and the Kevin Feige of Fox’s Marvel-verse, says he isn’t sure what’s up either.

“We haven’t had any discussions yet about what the Disney acquisition of Fox would look like for the Marvel properties because I think legally they’re not allowed to talk about it until it’s done,” he admitted. “We’re just moving forward as we move forward.”

Kinberg says the Fox team are already moving forward on “X-Force” (which Drew Goddard will write and direct) and, “believe it or not, we’re still trying to get ‘Gambit‘ [starring Channing Tatum ] up and running.”

I’ll believe the latter when I see it, but in the meantime, no answers to anything in this article other than the fact that Reynolds recently admitted he hasn’t seen the finished version of “Green Lantern,” but doesn’t really get into many reasons why. Watch the first clip from “Deadpool 2” below as some kind of consolation prize.
