‘W’ Too Heavy On The Parody?

Some brief “W” thoughts from Spencer who saw the film last night:

I saw “W” last night, and I won’t tell you to much since you are seeing it tonight, but it certainly is a film that I thought as if nothing else was funny to watch. But with some of the characters, such as Condi Rice (Thandie Newton), I was disappointed that they choose to portrayed her as such a one dimensional cartoon. Karl Rove (Toby Jones) is of course a fucking asshole, and they had loads of fun with that. There were a few scenes without humor, that I thought were really good and interesting, and just a little bit moving, which almost made me wish that [director] Oliver Stone had done a straight up biopic on the guy rather than work the parody angle too hard. The fact that family always thinking of George W. (Josh Brolin) as the loser was a pretty interesting twist, that I wish they would have worked with a little more seriousness.  But overall I thought it was a pretty fun movie, that happened to be interesting at points, but nothing that will change a swing voters mind come election time.
