First Trailer For 'Avengers: Endgame' Continues The Battle Against Thanos

Cliffhangers work on TV, from week to week, but movie to movie? When was the last time a major studio wiped out half its characters in one of the biggest movie cliffhangers of all time? You’d likely have to go as far back as “The Empire Strikes Back,” in 1980 to find a major four-quadrant blockbuster that left you hanging in the same way. What happened to Earth Mightiest Heroes? Those that survived anyhow and will some of the other characters inevitably come back? (Let’s face it, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and at least a “Black Panther” sequel are on the way). Don’t be looking for Katherine Langford of “13 Reasons Why,” recently announced as a late edition of the cast, she’s nowhere to be seen.

And things aren’t looking great for Tony Stark either — he’s adrift in space and running out of oxygen.
