'Captain Marvel': Brie Larson Releases The First Action-Packed Clip + New Superbowl Spot

With “Avengers: Endgame” creeping ever so close to release, Marvel has a slight dilemma on their hands already evinced by “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer spoilers that reveal characters that survived the events of ‘Infinity War,’ and ‘Endgame,’ beyond the obvious like Peter Parker. But Marvel has cleverly pirouetted around that problem with the upcoming “Captain Marvel,” the company’s second prequel following “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

You’ve seen that infamous clip in the first trailer where Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, punches out an old lady on the subway which caused minor controversy for those that don’t know the Marvel story. That old lady, of course, turned out to be a Skrull, the shape-shifting alien race and bad guys of “Captain Marvel,” that she has to defend Earth against (could this eventually lead to a Secret Invasion storyline?)

Well, Larson has now released a clip that appears to be a follow-up to that scene, still battling it out with the Skrulls, but now on the top of the subway. There’s also been a new TV spot released and even more, is expected tomorrow on Super Bowl game day.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

“Captain Marvel” will be the first Marvel film that features a female director, albeit, it’s a team for this one: the indie filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. (“Half Nelson”).

Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” opens in U.S. theaters on March 8, 2019. Watch the clip and new TV spot below.
