Marvel Reveals Details Of 'Avengers: Endgame' Extras Released In Theaters This Weekend

How do you re-release a movie that’s already in theaters? That’s the rub, right? “Avengers: Endgame” is at about $2.750 billion worldwide, about $38 million shy of beating the “Avatar” all-time worldwide record of $2.788 billion globally. But part of the journey is the end, and ‘Endgame’ is down to less than 1,000 theaters in North America and last weekend, grossed $1.9 million domestically and the DVD/Blu-Ray is right around the corner, about six or so weeks out. Even as is grosses about $3 million internationally: do the math. Even with 8 weeks left (generous figure) and diminishing grosses week over week, there’s no way ‘Endgame’ can make up $38 million in that time. It just seems impossible.

But whatever it takes, right? This is the fight of Marvel‘s lives and they’re not going down without a massive 30 minute, bloated battle for a finale. As you’ve heard, Marvel has been planning a “re-release” of “Avengers: Endgame” which is difficult because the film is already in theaters. What does it really mean? Well, despite a lot of speculation, Marvel has, this morning, released the details of what new surprises are in store for moviegoers that decide to trek out to the theaters one more time, and pay $12, gas, parking and food and drinks for glorified DVD extras.

So what does Marvel have in store for the dedicated? First of all, they’ve released a new exclusive poster— which you can get at select theaters while supplies last—the Iron Gauntlet to tease it all. From there you’re getting a new introduction, probably a thank you, from director Anthony Russo, an unfinished deleted scene, and a sneak peek at “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” presumably a clip and a new trailer you can only see in theaters.

There’s more, sort of. It’s not at all official, but there’s talk of a Stan Lee tribute or some kind of tease for a Stan Lee tribute that will appear on the ‘Endgame’ DVD/Blu-Ray. We’ll see if that rumor pans out.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a post-credits? Here’s the thing. What we’ve heard, and the rumor that appears to be all over the Internet right now is that this unfinished deleted scene will act as a kind of post-credits scene.

**Spoiler Rumor** Do you want to know what the scene is? Before we’re credited as the bad guy, again, this rumor is already floating all over the Internet, try Twitter if you like or smaller websites, it’s there. The unfinished deleted scene from ‘Endgame’ in theaters this weekend apparently centers around Smart Hulk, but details are unknown at this time. There are two ways to look at it. Is it a tease for the Smart Hulk future or a greater tease towards the future of the MCU? It’s hard to tell, but we honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s neither and just kind of some fun, jokey thing, but who knows. **End Spoiler Rumor section**

Theater count hasn’t been revealed, but with Marvel unveiling some details, it’s expected that ‘Endgame’ will be in at least 1,500-ish theaters give or take (last weekend was 985). Can this “whatever it takes” push take ‘Endgame’ over the line to beat “Avatar?” Some are already estimating an additional $10 million this weekend, globally, but while that’ll close the gap, even that figure won’t match the figure in time. Time will tell obviously, but even Marvel is being transparent immediately in their tweet: “See Marvel Studios’ #AvengersEndgame again before it leaves theaters!” because we all know that’s soon.
