George Clooney Dubbed Too Old To Play Jack Ryan

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the man we can thank for such Oscar-caliber efforts this summer as “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra,” has ruled George Clooney out of the running for his proposed reboot of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character.

Clooney was previously revealed as a possible contender for the role with the actor reportedly expressing interest in any revival of the franchise from Paramount. However, Di Bonaventura has now come out and put a wet blanket on any talk about Clooney, claiming the role is written for someone more spritely.

“It’s for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it’s not written for a man of his age. It’s written for a guy in his early 30s,” di Bonavenura revealed. “We submitted a script to Paramount recently. It was well-received and it’s in the process.”

Not surprising considering that hack di Bonaventura’s involvement. But we all know what that means, right? Coming to a theater near you: Channing Tatum as Jack Ryan! Can’t you see it? Let’s just forget this reboot exists. [MTV]
