'Us Kids': Alamo Drafthouse To Release Timely Doc For FREE Until Election Day Via Virtual Cinema [Exclusive]

Exclusive: Anxiety is high, nerves are shot, and no one is sleeping. The urgency around the election right now is as high as it’s ever been, and filmmakers and studios are getting into the mix to do all they can to encourage people to vote and create change. As early voter turnout surges, the youth vote projected to be at an all-time high, and as another way to energize young voters, Alamo Drafthouse Virtual Cinema, in conjunction with the filmmakers and get out the vote efforts, announces that it will release the March For Our Lives documentary “Us Kids,” for free starting tomorrow, Friday, October 30 through election day.

“Us Kids” is about the teen activists who helped create March For Our Lives movement, sparked by the plague of gun violence that ravaged their schools and personally affected and shattered their lives. “Us Kids” is told from the perspective of activists Emma González, David Hogg, Sam Fuentes, Jaclyn Corin, Cameron Kasky, Bria Smith, Alex King, and Alex Dworet. Last weekend’s youth-focused VOTE WITH US RALLY featuring the aforementioned teen activists garnered over 20,000 views for the film’s sneak preview.

An official Sundance Film Festival selection that premiered earlier this year, “Us Kids” is from filmmaker Kim A. Snyder, who directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary (and utterly devastating) “Newtown” (2016), a documentary about the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy in 2012 and the aftermath of trauma that still ravages the community there.

From Kim A. Snyder, director of the Peabody Award-winning documentary Newtown, comes an insightful, rousing coming-of-age story of a generation of youth leaders determined to take the reins and fight for justice at a most critical time in our nation’s history. Sparked by the plague of gun violence ravaging their schools, Us Kids chronicles the March For Our Lives movement from the point of view of Emma González, David Hogg, Samantha Fuentes, and the expansive coalition of teenage activists involved over the course of several years as they pull off the largest youth protest in American history and set out across the country to build an inclusive and unprecedented youth movement that addresses racial justice, a growing public health crisis, and shocks a political system into change.
